Hello, my name is Gene Kittredge. I was born and raised here in Milwaukee.

Prior to my teaching career, I spent seven years in the military as a machinist. When I completed my enlistment, I worked at a few machine shops here in the Milwaukee area. I enjoyed my work but always felt the desire to do something else, I just wasn’t sure what that was. Oftentimes, I would help out with vacation bible school at our local church. I really enjoyed working with the children and always looked forward to teaching them. Soon afterward, I decided to attend college and pursue a degree in Education. I am thankful to God I did this. I really feel the Lord lead me in this direction. This is the way He works. He places people where He feels they are best suited whether we may think so or not. I am very happy and feel very blessed to be able to serve Him in this way.

Years taught: I have been teaching Early Childhood Education for 18 years.

Degrees/Certification: I have a BS degree in Early Childhood Education and an M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction.

What grades/classes you teach: I have been teaching Kindergarten for the past three years here at Milwaukee SDA School. Prior to that, I worked in the public school system for 15 years teaching 2nd grade, Kindergarten, and Pre-K.

Description of your classroom:
Classroom expectations: It is very important to me that my students are happy and feel safe and secure in our classroom. I expect my students to give me their best effort and to follow our classroom rules. They are as follows:

  1. I keep my hands and feet to myself.
  2. I am quiet when my teacher is talking.
  3. I raise my hand and wait to be called on before I talk.
  4. I follow directions the first time they are given.
  5. I treat others the way I want to be treated.

Philosophy: It is my goal every year that my students not only gain a good education academically but have a closer understanding and relationship with Jesus. I feel it is of utmost importance that our students are prepared for eternity in heaven. I am sure to include God as the center of our curriculum in all subject areas.

Hobbies: I enjoy spending time with my family, classic cars, fishing, and the Packers!

Goals: To continue to serve God in any way He leads me.
